Marketplace comparison
You keep $231 more each month
Compared with putting the same $3,000 of monthly revenue entirely through a marketplace charging 20%.
Difference over 12 months
$2,772kept
This comparison includes marketplace fees, the direct-processing rate you entered, and Houndtrust at $24 a month when you have direct revenue. It excludes the other costs above because those apply to both sides. Keep bookings arranged through a marketplace on that marketplace. Use Houndtrust for clients you acquire independently.

One home boarder, 33 completed Rover stays
Our anonymized export lists $11,385.50 in Rover service charges and $2,277.10 in sitter fees. It covers Rover clients only. Private clients and business expenses are excluded, so it is evidence from one channel, not a claim about typical income.

How do I calculate dog boarding income?
Multiply your average nightly rate by your booked dog-nights to estimate monthly revenue. Then subtract marketplace fees, card processing, software, food, cleaning, insurance, supplies, and other business costs to estimate profit. Multiply the monthly result by 12 for a simple yearly estimate.
What is a dog-night?
One dog staying for one billable night is one dog-night. Two dogs staying for five nights equal 10 dog-nights. Using dog-nights keeps the math useful when several dogs overlap on the same calendar dates.
How much can a home dog boarding business make?
There is no single typical amount. Revenue depends on the nightly rate, safe capacity, booked dog-nights, holiday pricing, extra services, and local demand. Profit also depends on fees and operating costs. Houndtrust's published operator case study shows 33 completed Rover stays with $11,385.50 in service charges, but it is one business record, not a promise of results.
Can I use this calculator if some clients book through Rover?
Yes. Enter the percentage of monthly revenue that stays on a marketplace and the fee charged there. The calculator applies card processing and Houndtrust only to the direct share. Keep care arranged through Rover on Rover, and use a direct system for clients you acquire independently.
Does the dog boarding income estimate include taxes?
No. The calculator shows an estimate before income tax. Enter ordinary monthly business costs, but ask a qualified tax professional which costs are deductible and how much to set aside for federal, state, and local taxes.
Put the estimate into one calendar
Houndtrust keeps direct-client intake, signed waivers, bookings, invoices, and balances together for a flat monthly price. It takes no percentage of clients you bring.
